Rosalfonso Bortoni was born in São Lourenço, MG, Brazil. He received his Electrical Engineering degree (emphasis in electronics and telecommunication) from the National Institute of Telecommunication (INATEL), Santa Rita do Sapucaí, Brazil, in 1993. In 1999 and 2005 he received his Master and Doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in audio amplifiers output stages dimensioning and current-driven loudspeakers, respectively, from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil. In 2002 he published the book “Audio Amplifiers – Fundamentals, Characteristics and Applications,” (in Portuguese) and also was the secretary of the AES Brazil section. In 2008 he did a specialization in low-power and low-noise analog integrated circuits at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and in 2012 he joined the Integrated Circuits Laboratory at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil, for the Postdoctoral degree. Since 1995 he has been consulting and designing audio circuits and loudspeakers for the domestic and international industries, and has worked and contributed with THAT Corporation, Audio Precision, and Klippel GmbH, among others. He was the Audio and Video Manager at the Organizing Committee for the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Games (from 2013 to 2016) and in 2017 he started his company Bortoni Technology. Since 2017 he has been consulting for THAT Corporation as the Senior Applications Engineer and also developing educational works along with the Federal University of Santa Catarina and the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (UFSC and IFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil, collaborating in audio-related disciplines and co-advising on graduation projects. He has been an AES Member since 1992.
