Introducing music production using historical context: The particular case of the record industry in Colombia
In this paper, we describe the implementation of a music production and recording course in which students researched and analyzed different aspects that define the evolution of record productions from the perspective of the album as an aesthetic concept.  Such a course was divided into two stages: (1) Students researched the historical meaning of albums in their music collections in order to learn about basic terms and concepts that they could use to analyze, discuss and understand these processes.  (2) Subsequently, they applied these concepts, approaches, and perspectives to their own work to replicate the technical-aesthetic elements of key productions and their protagonists, which will inspire their conceptions of art and sound.
