The Junior Producers Club: A case study of utilizing a community outreach to promote diversity, independent thinking and music production
This article is a case study of a community outreach realized through an immersive learning audio course. Audio students from Ball State installed a project studio at a community center in an underserved neighborhood of Muncie.  They worked with middle schoolers, instructing them in basic signal-flow, recording, DAW operation and music-theory. The highly successful project has provided significant insight into curriculum design to create a diverse classroom and expand the cultural horizon of audio students.  The article outlines the various phases of the project, the equipment used, the teaching approaches and the challenges associated with socio-economic aspects of the community.  It serves as a guide for those interested in doing a similar project.
