Jessica Argo
Glasgow School of Art Programme Leader BDes Sound for Moving Image
Glasgow, Scotland
I am fascinated by how sound and music induces emotions and physical sensations. I have designed 3D soundscapes intended to elicit psychological catharsis, and physical desensitization from anxiety - I tested these on listeners by using subjective questionnaires and physiological monitoring.
I teach Sound Culture, Critical Studies in Sound for Moving Image, Critical Theory and Immersive Contexts as well as Research in Sound and Film.
I am dedicated to Widening Participation, and am responsible for the Equality Diversity and Inclusion workshops at the School of Simulation and Visualisation.
I love to play cello and theremin in experimental music ensembles, such as Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra and the Glasgow Glam Rock Dialogues.
