Stephen Webber is Executive Director of BerkleeNYC, overseeing the iconic Power Station studios. Webber has hosted sessions for Janelle Monáe, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kate McKinnon, Trey Anastasio, DJ Khaled, Chris Martin, John Legend, Bette Midler, Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, Wynton Marsalis, Busta Rhymes, Tina Fey, Disney’s Mary Poppins, and Frozen, John Baptiste, and more. Webber also serves as Dean of Strategic Initiatives for Berklee College of Music. He was the Founding Director of the Music Production, Technology, and Innovation Master’s program at Berklee’s Valencia campus, where he also served as the first Director of Academic Technology. His course for Berklee Music Online, “Music Production Analysis, won the “Best Online Course Award” from the University Continuing Education Association in 2010.Webber is an Emmy-winning composer who has toured China, Australia, Europe, Central America, and the US, and appeared on CNN, NBC, NPR, and CBS, and in both The New York Times and Rolling Stone. He has produced and engineered albums for a wide-range of artists, including a collaboration with DJ Premier and Nas for Re: Generations Music Project, a film that Webber appeared in alongside Erica Badu, Skrillex, Mos Def, Pretty Lights, and The Doors. Weber is the composer and turntable soloist of the “Stylus Symphony,” a groundbreaking work that combines a full orchestra with Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, and Dubstep. He is the author of Turntable Technique: The Art of the DJ, the first book to teach the turntable as a musical instrument, and DJ Skills: The Ultimate Guide to Mixing and Scratching. He founded Berklee's DJ and turntablism classes, considered to be the first to be offered by a college of music.
